Subscription and storage
Each device has its own subscription. One plan covers one camera. Cameras in one household can be on different plans. Cancelling one never touches the other.
The plans
Section titled “The plans”
- DashKeep Cloud keeps 12 hours of your highest-quality footage in the cloud, up to 4K at 60fps. The window rolls forward as new footage arrives. An endless archive follows the rolling window. It never runs out. DashKeep stores it in Frankfurt, under GDPR rules. You can browse old drives forever. They just aren’t playable at full quality.
- DashKeep Community Edition is for self-hosting. The camera uploads to your own S3 bucket instead of the DashKeep cloud. The agent, the website, and the storage setup are the same. Only the destination changes. You keep everything else. The Community Edition pages cover the full setup.
Payment runs through Stripe. DashKeep never receives your card details. The card details stay with Stripe.
See How storage works for the rolling window and the archive.
Cloud devices can also mirror uploads to an owner’s own S3 bucket. See S3 mirror storage for how you configure the mirror and when you need a new dashkeep.dat.
When payment fails
Section titled “When payment fails”If a payment lapses, the device’s subscription card doesn’t hide it. You see the state right away:
- Past due: a payment failed. The fix is quick. Stripe’s portal, reachable from the card, fixes it.
- Unpaid: the red banner appears with a countdown date, and uploads for this device stop. The banner lists the date when DashKeep deletes all its footage, locked clips included. Renewing stops the countdown. Everything continues as before.
If you miss a payment, the dashboard’s fix-payment path helps you get the device back. It walks you through a new checkout for that device.
