Cameras without a screen

One supported DashKeep camera has no screen: the Viofo VS1. DashKeep runs on it the same way it runs anywhere else. Footage uploads, trips appear, protected clips are never removed without their archive, and the camera records exactly as its firmware defines. Nothing about the day-to-day experience changes because the screen is missing.

  • The status logo never appears, because there is no screen to draw it on.
  • The advanced menu doesn’t exist. The double press of the Wi-Fi button that opens it on other cameras does nothing here, and DashKeep never takes over the recording to show a menu.

The A119 Mini family was once listed here. Those cameras carry a small screen after all, and DashKeep now draws the same status logo and menu on it as on every other supported camera.

Everything those two features would show is on this website. The dashboard reports whether the camera is online and recording, its position, and how much footage it has uploaded. If something goes wrong, the troubleshooting pages work the same as on any camera, and exporting logs has its own notes for cameras with no screen.

DashKeep doesn’t change what the buttons do on this camera. They keep their factory jobs: the VS1 has two panel buttons that control its menu and Wi-Fi, and it beeps in reply.

If a camera runs one of the DashKeep apps from the applications tab, the app can also read the buttons, and you interact with it through the website.

The VS1 plays its normal voice prompts.
