Updating your dashcam firmware

Don’t follow the maker’s firmware update instructions. Their updater installs the stock firmware. It removes DashKeep in the process. The logo disappears and uploads stop. The camera records as a plain dashcam again.

Use the reinstall flow instead. It patches the maker’s newest firmware. DashKeep remains on the card:

  1. Open the device’s settings page and select Update firmware. Only the device’s owner can use it.
  2. Follow the flow with the card plugged into your computer. It takes a few minutes.

The walkthrough is on Reinstall and update. It’s the same flow either way.

If you already ran the maker’s update, the card has no DashKeep on it. Everything in the cloud is safe. Your device keeps its name, plan, and trips. Bring DashKeep back with the reinstall flow.
