Formatting the SD card

Formatting through the dashcam’s own menu is fine. The camera clears its own footage folders and leaves everything else alone. DashKeep and your settings survive. Do it any time you want a clean card.

Formatting the card in a computer isn’t safe. A computer format wipes the whole card, dashkeep.dat included. The corner logo then turns red, and the camera shows its restore screen. The camera keeps recording either way.

To fix it, rebuild the file with Download to SD card, advanced. The reinstall flow also works. It refreshes everything on the card.
