The camera never updated
If the camera keeps booting the maker’s own firmware and the firmware file is still sitting on the memory card after a reboot, the camera’s updater never accepted the file. DashKeep has not been installed yet. The camera simply ignored the file, and it will keep ignoring it until the right file for your exact camera is on the card.
The camera’s updater consumes the firmware file when it accepts it. The file disappears from the card during the update. A file that survives a reboot was never even looked at.
Check which firmware file your camera wants
Section titled “Check which firmware file your camera wants”Viofo sold two versions of the A119 Mini 2 under the same name. Each version only installs firmware named for its own generation:
- The 2022 to 2024 model runs firmware that starts with FWA119M2. Its serial number starts with A119MS2.
- The 2025 refresh runs firmware that starts with FWA119MN.
Open the camera’s settings menu and check the firmware version shown there. If it does not start with the same letters as the firmware file on your card, the camera is the other version.
Fix it
Section titled “Fix it”Run the setup wizard again and pick A119 Mini 2. The wizard asks which version you have:
- Pick Serial starts with A119MS2 when the camera’s firmware version starts with FWA119M2.
- Pick Firmware starts with FWA119MN when it starts with FWA119MN.
The wizard downloads and patches the firmware that matches your answer. Copy it to the card as before and reboot the camera.
If the camera’s firmware version matches the file on the card and the file still survives a reboot, write to the team in the support chat. Say which camera you have and which firmware version its settings menu shows.
